IRIS CRYSTAL'S EXPERIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS

My goals, my ambitions, my dreams, my determinations, my desires, my talents and my expectations all make me think about how to achieve the things that are truly important in life.   As a retired Principal I have found that the best way to continue to help young adults is through offering a service that would help them achieve their dreams.  College graduates are the foundation of our countries future.  Every student deserves the best assistance possible to apply and enter the colleges of their choice. 

Instructional Leadership

·                 Development and implementation of the school-wide curriculum for College Programs.

·                 Development and implementation of school-wide reading program.

·                 Development and implementation of a balanced literacy based school-wide program.

·                 Implementation of the humanities program for all students in grades

·                 Integrated departments and staff  to promote a collaborative approach to teaching concepts, content and process skills across curriculum areas.

·                 Conducted departmental, faculty and grade conferences.

·                 Use data to drive changes in classroom instruction by collecting, analyzing and disaggregating test scores. Evaluated student performance on standardized reading tests and conducted staff development activities to address the needs of teachers and students.

·                 Planned and provided staff development activities for teachers and parents.

·                 Provide Saturday courses for parents.

·                 Developed a Lead Teacher Cohort to implement school-wide, Standards based curriculum in developing stratgies for college applications.

·                 Planned instructional activities as a member of the High School Leadership Committee.

·                 Organize and participate in focused walkthroughs to evaluate current instruction practices.

·                 Organize and participate in focused seminars with Assistant Principals, parents and teachers.
